Vegetarian Recipe : Chai
Do you like indian tea (milktea) and want to make it at home too ?


Serves 4

For this Chai recipe you need

1 cup of milk
2 cups of water
1 tablespoon black tea leaves
1 tablespoon of sucanot or sugar
optional seeds of green cardemom, freshly grounded
optional ginger, cinnamon,...

Chai Recipe

In a saucepan, bring the milk and water to a boil.

Remove mixture from the heat as soon as bubbles start to rise.

Stir in the tea leaves, sugar and optional spices.

Cover and allow to steep for a few minutes.

Strain and serve

Background information on this Chai recipe

If you let the tea leaves boil in the water/milk mixture, like it is all too often done in India, the tea becomes much more difficult to digest because tannins are released from the tea.
